CLICK THE > ARROWS FOR SONGS AND GREEN LETTERING FOR LINKS![]() This may be a perspective many haven't considered but there will be a spike in the number of minorities needing mental health services. Although some may not acknowledge it, this necessity for counseling and therapy is due directly to the consequences of racism coupled with the corona virus and the built in systemic imbalances that are becoming more and more obvious. Our crime statistics will not reflect the number of offenses that will be a direct result from the stress of being discriminated against, displaced and disregarded. These acts come from people who don't get paid sick days or vacations. Retirement and pension plans are not in the description of most poor or disenfranchised workers. The "spirits" of many suppressed emotions are now surfacing and many of the victims are unaware of it. This new strain of P.T.S.D. along with a heightened sense of inequities and social injustice has come into play creating uncertain feelings about life in general. Unfortunately many minorities have already succumbed to the systemic stresses carried forward through the legacy and symbols of racism. Health care for slaves was non existent, they had to "suck it up" or invent self administered solutions. The legacy of racism and slavery has caused some of our minority cultures to develop a traditional aversion to, and distrust for, doctors in general. Along with being denied health care financially, our system abuses and exploits those least able to advocate for themselves yet most in need of help. Some cultures tend to frown at consulting health care professionals especially for mental health issues. The "spirit of racism," besides promoting external animosity, has a "side effect" that spawns internal loathing or resentment resulting in "same culture" and "self" hate. Unbeknownst to most victims of racism is that the "spirit of hate" has planted a seed of invisible abhorrence that keeps the victim perpetually stressed while slowly eating away at them. Without "healing" that addresses the comorbidity of both spiritual and psychological issues mental maladies will flourish. Spiritual infections, which operate in spirit (attitude/behavior/consciousness), are deceptive and have multiple variations of disguise. Racism is a spirit that scars many of its victims for life. Although most of society fails to address the spiritual aspects of our existence, they nevertheless are behind all causation and the interactions we observe from day to day. Spiritual dilemmas require spiritual solutions. The "spirit of racism" is so insidious in that it is both socially and self destructive. It may appear to be obvious how wrong racism is, but some folk willingly carry it to their grave. Racism's message within the consciousness of the majority says that all men are not created equal. This is the type of prejudice that breeds both external and Internal racism which plagues many minority cultures and creates self loathing leading to depression, suicide and violence. Hating one's own skin color is a learned phenomena endorsed by a "system of beliefs" that complexion influences direction. This is one of many uncomfortable truths about racism and that truth is easily overlooked because it has a tendency to make us feel uncomfortable. The truth is that stress of systemic racism is a public safety and health emergency. ![]() We are naturally inclined to believe whatever we are taught or told about things unless we discover obvious differences between our beliefs and reality. Sometimes even after such evidence people choose to be in denial of fact. There are unaccounted for stresses that go along with being impoverished, insecure or unhealthy. Many time the victims of these conditions are unaware of the fact that they are already suffering from their circumstances and so ignorance becomes bliss. However when they are made aware of how poorly they fare compared to others it results in additional stress. Dealing with the reality of this painful condition causes the victims to seek relief by any means available. Some resort to intoxicants, some to religious beliefs of eternal bliss in the hereafter and others to psychological and social destructive behaviors. It is similar to banging one's head against a wall and enjoying the relief that occurs when the torture momentarily ceases. Stress, like most actions and feelings is not in and of itself either good or bad. There are two basic types of stress. There are physical stresses, sometimes considered good stress. There is also emotional stresses which are induced or created mentally. Stress in and of itself is neither good or bad it is simply a form of built in resistance to change. This pressure or tension creates a state of physical, mental or emotional strain that can be beneficial or detrimental. Stress is a normal part of life. We are concentrating on emotional or mental stresses and its hidden manifestations. Although the underlying causes are spiritual there are three primary types of mental stress with five associated stages. Rather than approaching this topic from a psychological perspective, let's consider how difficult it can be to fit into a rapidly changing and accelerating society today. The main reason that we struggle in life is because as a species we live life wrong. Humanity was designed to live in harmony with its own kind and the rest of nature. When we live a lifestyle that is in conflict with, or in opposition to, natural law we create imbalances that adds stresses to both our emotional and spiritual well-being. Natural laws are easy to observe and discover. Natural law includes all the rules of daily phenomena defined by physics. Sayings like "what goes up must come down" and the logic that follows that area of science can be described as natural law. Natural law incorporates the natural forces of resistance that work in conjunction with one another and enable the operation of other phenomena such as flight, floating and fire. ![]() The complementary aspects of all nature synchronizes our interrelated activities in such a way that even opposing forces work for the benefit of process and progress. It is a mistake to categorize any energy or force as either good or evil. The same wind that can be destructive in the form of a hurricane or tornado helps both birds and bees to fly and assists in the pollination (sexual intercourse) of plants. Is the wind evil or good? It is neither. The wind is just the wind, without its force of resistance all flight fails. The spiritual side of stress does not suggest that spirits have feelings or can be pressured. Spirits are the manifestation of the feelings we have, they inhabit attitude, behavior and consciousness. The "spirit of health" includes the physical, mental, emotional, psychological and every other aspect of our coexistence with all of nature. Flowers and plants "seemingly" do not worry, get anxious or become fearful. Good spiritual health lends itself to having good overall health in every aspect of our being. The spirit in which we approach the problems we face in this day and time are directly tied to our sense of well-being. We can use stress to build strength or allow stress to zap it away. So much of what we are experiencing today is quite unsettling and as Thomas Paine once said "try men's souls." As "non-white" minorities continue to fall victim to the ravages of racism, trust in our system of justice is eroding while frustration with the system is growing. The "spirit of fear" has risen to the point that we are afraid to turn our backs to authority without getting shot in it. When our leaders lack the intestinal fortitude to examine their hearts for a moral compass it creates an atmosphere of hostility and tension. Watch out! The "spirit of stress" is subtle. The manifestation of this spirit ranges from angry outbursts to suppressed emotions. Everybody on all sides is subject to this pressure. Citizens will be quicker to rebel and resist. Cops will be quicker to abuse and to shoot. This is not fear mongering this is how the science of spirit operates. So how can we identify or deal with it? A shred of truth no longer can be spun into an acceptable complete narrative. Remember spiritual problems require spiritual solutions and although we may address them chemically with drugs, or psychologically with therapies, the core cause must be resolved in spirit. Seeking temporary relief for long term issues calls for repeated treatments. Like with many alcoholics the problem is managed but the patient is never fully healed. Addressing the spiritual side of stress calls for examining and redefining the perceived crisis while transforming it into a temporary circumstance which we will keep from affecting our values and purposes in life. The sense of losing control over things that were never fully under our control is unsettling and creates a false narrative that is juxtaposed to expressing true spirituality through faith. We can begin to restore our personal peace through relaxing in the quiet and "flowing stillness" of connecting ourselves with nature and with God. Spiritual logic sometimes defies common sense and transcends regular reasoning. We must do better to feel better and be better. By finding meaning through our productive and satisfying callings we will ultimately embrace the "spirit of fulfillment" while we do whatever we do on this leg of the journey. Click the > arrows for songs and green lettering for linksTo Our Followers, Patrons and Readers: ![]() Insight and the practical application of principles has been our primary goal throughout the years we have been writing these posts. However, at this time by following the same spiritual principles we espouse to all readers it has become obvious to "me" that "I" myself am in need of emotional, mental and spiritual assistance. TD Jakes or Dr. Phil would be the counselors of choice but they are sure to have their hands full at this time of increasing national stress. Recognizing a problem is the first step to resolving a problem; and yes, today is the day for "my" individual personal reckoning. From time to time It is important that we share our deep seated problems publicly, not to be regarded as brave or heroic but for the mutual benefit of our collective consciousness and the power of prayer within it. Many private matters are kept quiet or secret and as a result are never fully resolved. This should not be the case. It is time to get beyond committing "the sin of silence" again and again. In part, this is an effort to share mutual situations that others might be experiencing too, but mostly to alert everyone to get beyond the shame of our mistakes and resolve them in spite of it. Being willing to deal with problems is neither brave nor heroic, but it is commendable. Before we begin highlighting "my" personal problems let's get one thing straight. The next step in resolving personal problems is accepting FULL responsibility for whatever the problem is, no matter how or through who it manifests. This may be tricky because the untrained ego is sure to want to paint a picture that keeps its reputation intact through placing the blame on others. This will be one of the few time "I" will be expressing through the "first person." The reason that most of our posts are written in the third person is because our issues and problems are mutual as well as our responsibility to act. "WE" ARE THE NEW "THEY." Everyone has a part to play in all aspects of human endeavors. It's not up to the leaders, the politicians or those in charge, it's up to us. Although we may not have a plan or know the way each of us still has a say! Most of our readers know that we wax poetic at the drop of a dime because retention is greater if put in a rhyme. We've made the choice to raise our voice and hope the price won't cost our life. But "truth" come with the caveat of honesty. If the foundation is not based on the honesty and integrity of truth eventually the structure built upon it will reveal the flaws. "My" own predictions have resulted in "me" also becoming a victim of this newly emerging mental health crisis. So many minorities like "myself" generally seek mental health through a mirror. The mirror represents the ego of self or someone just like us that co-signs our position. In "my" case "thou art the man" as Nathan told King David who attempted to hide the acts of adultery and murder. "My" mental health mirror mirror on the wall showed "I" wasn't on the ball. No matter how "I" tried to get by the truthful mirror wouldn't lie. Told me "I" need more than self, to be in the best mental health. So rather then continuing to lie to myself I have chosen to expose this "lying Spirit" before it deceives "me" again. We could go the route of listing and illustrating all of the circumstances and conditions (causes) behind the present situation we find ourselves in or we can take a different type of pathological approach. ![]() This is a call for HELP! Here are the facts. "I'm" finding it increasingly difficult not to hate. Most people are unaware of the history or impact of racism. It seems that many people today either ignore or don't recognize the face or the signs of racism. There is little need for defining and redefining the obvious. RACISM IS WHAT RACISM DOES! The apathy and ignorance displayed by so many of "my" "privileged" acquaintances is maddening and has salted my reopened wounds. Why am "I" so mad "I" ask myself. Upset with "my" parents, upset with "my" in-laws, upset with "my" brother, sister, wife and anybody else that's close in "my" life. Here's what ego says: when "I" saw what was coming and warned everyone, when "I" used "my" meager resources to insure the survival of "my" family and friends, when "my" offer to help in the most urgent way was spurned, when "I" didn't get the thank you's or the amount of appreciation "I" felt "I" deserved, when "my" wife's physical health and my mothers mental health continues to deteriorate before "my" eyes and when those closest to "me" failed to heed "my" warnings or take "me" seriously. Oh me oh my, "I" now have the right to be mad, get mad and stay mad. "I" have the right to be mad at them and anybody else that "I" feel is in violation of the way they should be behaving. "My" righteous indignation is justified by the sacrifices "I" made for them all. With all of these eyes (I's) why is it that "I" can't see the forest for the trees? ![]() Here's what the real deal amounts to. Once we recognize what the issue is we should also realize that singularly we cannot solve it. When the fire department arrives at a fire, they immediately evaluate it to determine if they are capable of handling it all by themselves. If the first responding engine cannot contain the fire, the protocol is to strike a second alarm. Sometimes, even in the midst of fighting a fire they discover that it has grown and is larger then it was upon arrival. They then continue calling for more help by striking additional alarms. The goal is to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible and minimize its damage. There is nothing wrong with over reacting under these circumstances. We should all practice erring on the side of caution. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Whenever we feel like or even imagine hurting ourselves or anyone else it's time to strike that second alarm. Cursing and yelling or striking and destroying things are the "tell tale" signs of losing it and must be regarded as physical assault and emotional abuse. Assault begins when fear enters in by threats or actions. Battery carries out the act of assault. Remember all causation has some spiritual energy behind it and thoughts become things. It starts in the head and afterwards spreads, sometimes we need help to put it to bed. Only the "spirit of pride" will have us wait until it's to late to mitigate a worsening fate. So there it is. Do YOU know a spiritually minded mental health professional capable of dealing with an informed and intelligent "angry black man?" If so leave the information in the comments section below. "I'll" be sure to let everyone know how it turned out. Keep in mind that the building hasn't burned down yet but its obvious to "ME" that the house is on fire! TEXT IN GREEN ARE LINKS - CLICK ON THEM - TRUTH OR DARE![]() Sound is defined as a vibration that manifests itself in the form of a wave. Without sound the evidence of "invisible physical manifestations" are limited to sensing, sight or touch. In the known physical realm every movement, occurrence and action makes a sound or has a sound associated with it. The exceptions are in a vacuum or outer space. Sound's distinct characteristics allows it to be both felt and heard. Sound alerts us to the presence of whatever produced it, despite the fact that the sound made by an object is not that object. Sound is capable of revealing the dimensions and characteristics of an object through its resonance. Sound may be regarded as an audible "energy force of power." Whether intentional or unintentional all sounds are created. This means that the absence of sound is also a creative process and indicates that the lack of sound is what makes silence. All sounds carry substance of spiritual energy. Just as silence has a spiritual energy too. It is obvious that different types of sounds have different types of meanings. Noise is often characterized as undesirable sound. Still every individual noise has a different spirit and diverse meaning to it. We use various types of vocalizations to address specific spirits and their behaviors. Whether we whisper or yell depends upon the circumstance, situation and effectiveness of that approach. In any case to deal with spiritual issues in this physical realm we must exercise the sound of our voice with powerful words of choice to have authority over them. ![]() All sounds must be initiated by some action or intent to be created and/or recreated. Sounds have no agenda of their own, they are merely the representatives of the "sound energy" that produced them. Sounds are not material substance. Yet they can be made, memorized, replicated and duplicated over and over again. When sounds are not being created or recreated they still exist but are in a silent or dormant state. Although sounds can not be retained or stored in their "expressive form" they continue in perpetuity within our memos, on paper, in recordings on machines and in memories within our heads. The articulation of sound helps us to bridge the gap between the conscious and subconscious natural and spiritual realms of our existence. The absence of sound (silence) indicates lack and a "spirit of truancy" in action. The spirit of a sound may consist or be derived from a wide spectrum of vibrations that can range anywhere from the noise of movement to the harmony of music. This post directly addresses the "sound of silence" and the sin which may be found in the lack of "sounding off." Silence is a state of sound that offers an unlimited clean slate of opportunity if it is broken into smaller constructive pieces. The "spirit of silence" has a profound effect when it is applied scientifically. We utilize the gaps of silence between the clapping of hands or the pauses, stops, and other punctuation's between words, sentences and paragraphs. Sound has the capacity to even break up the silence of shame. There are certain spirits that operate through or do their best work in dark, quiet or silent places. We often find the "spirits of despair, grief, pain, sorrow and other mental stresses" functioning and flourishing in these environments. Silence is an effortless state which usually requires very little energy to maintain. However total silence is not possible in this physical realm; and the closer we get to "absolute silence" the closer we move towards the next realm of existence through the door of death. As many people age they experience diminished hearing and vision. These are the signs of the silencing of physical senses prior to the complete awakening of spiritual ones. ![]() The "spirit of sound" is a difficult concept to describe. Often we use the physical characteristics of music or sound to describe certain psychic characteristics and qualities of spirit. In this case it is the "spirit of sound" that we want to compare to something else of similar qualities. It is always easier to describe something by something else that is similar. Water is water and water is liquid but there are not too many other things similar we can compare it with. However to describe the "spirit of sound" we will examine the concept of "quiet" to use as a comparison. Quiet is a quality of sound not of silence. Therefore quiet is never silent, neither can it ever be. A meek and quiet spirit is in God's sight of great price, however silence can be the "coward spirit" in a moment of quietness. Silence may be golden or silence can be compliance depending on the situation it is applied to. But in many cases silence is simply fear in disguise. "First They Came," is the poetic form of a post-war confessional prose by the German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemoller. In this writing silence, the sin of apathy, is addressed by its final consequences that eventually would lead to the authors own demise. Silence is deadly. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Battling silence requires an understanding of the spirit silence produces. When someone "breaks their silence" this indicates some level of freedom or liberty in expression. Whenever we "break" something, whether it be a previously held record or a piece of china, we are in fact replacing and destroying its place or state and establishing our influence and presence instead. When someone "breaks down" and cries they are "breaking" their silence in order to express their feelings. The "spirit of silence" like any other spirit functions and influences the realms it operates in. Remember, spirits are impartial, they have no agenda other than their expression. Within a wholesome environmental consciousness, spirits function harmoniously within the purpose of their presence. The "spirit of silence" has a dual purpose and position in its interactions with sound. Without gaps of silence, sound loses some qualities of its overall syncopation functionality. However the "spirit of silence" may attract the "spirit of fear" if not properly applied. ![]() Silence is as powerful as its opposite counterpart named sound. Without silence tyranny and evil lose traction at conception. Silence allows destructive energy to go undetected, underground, hide and fester until it resurfaces again. The "spirit of silence," works through the secretive nature of a lie concealed by pride. This spirit takes root during the initial manifestation and conceptual phases of thought and action. Silence works with a double edged sword of allowance and prevention. The "spirit of silence" insures that, "the joint that squeaks" will not get the oil (suppress the squeak), neither can the "stitch in time save nine" (ignore the the need), nor can we "nip it in the bud" (remedial rather then preventative strategies). When the "spirit of silence"prevails evil flourishes. Silence disguises and/or hides the deeds of those who work in darkness as opposed to the light. The duality of the "spirit of silence" means that while it works as a permissive spirit allowing hidden agendas it simultaneously functions as a preventative spirit restricting transparency. Most spirits have a duality to them. This is what permits them to be used for productive or destructive purposes. The "spirit of Silence" permits us to hold our peace and can keep us from saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. On the other hand, the "spirit of silence" can also prevent us from speaking up, speaking out, just talking or saying anything at all. This "dumb" (not stupid or ignorant) spirit is at work in the minds and mouths of most people today. We are the society that fails to speak against the "globally harmful" acts of society but have no problem with speaking for our "individually beneficial" actions. Now that we know how the "spirit of silence" operates we can honorably utilize it to bring attention to need and less focus on greed. Sound balances silence. We are the instruments that give a voice to sound. How we talk, what we say, verbally speak and think out loud (acts and actions) affects the consciousness of society and influences our collective concern for one another. Today we have the ability but we need the will (desire) and the words (sound) to share resources and create balance. This is our opportunity to break the bonds of silence. The world we live in and the entire universe as far as we know is at such a balance that wherever there is a surplus of something; somewhere else there is a lack or need that such a surplus would fill. The amazing thing is that this applies to sound, noise and silence as well. This means that for every empty bucket there is a full "WELL" waiting to fill it. In other words for any "void" there will always be a corresponding "excess" that occurs somewhere else. Charity, compassion and cooperation are being silenced, they are today's "void." Accumulated and concentrated wealth are today's "excess." While some people are dying due to undistributed lack others are indulging in unnecessary waste. To continue in silence is to condone this behavior. We are obligated to say something and give "sound" a voice, our voice. Even a whisper is a sound. Although they are quiet, whispers are unique, and if we listen for them we can distinguish their presence even among the loud shouting. A whisper in spirit (prayer) can become a roar in manifestation. The laws of spirit although subject to natural law are not subject to most physical laws. The law of balance Balance is subject to natural, physical and spiritual laws. Balance is sometimes referred to as a "Yin Yang" relationship, is a common concept in dualism that describes how seemingly opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and/or interdependent in some manner. When silence is balanced by expression we experience harmony. Whenever we have an over-abundance in contrast with lack or scarcity a balancing intervention is required. We see this with food, water and most other life sustaining resources. How is it possible that we have an overabundance of food in some places, so-much-so that it is wasted; while in other places around the globe there is not enough? As the dominate species on the earth we lack empathy for one another and respect for the planet. Our common welfare must always come first! We have the ability to produce power without raping the earth and simultaneously polluting it. We have advanced to a point where we have solutions for healthcare, hunger, and pollution but progress has been silenced by greed. It's time to talk about our failings and stop the silence of apathy towards our neighbors and planet. After we vote it is our voices that must continue to be heard. We can either muzzle our mouths to silence the voice and the march of progress, or we can sound the alarm through our dialogue with one another and forsake the sin of silence.
