"THERE'S NO FOOL LIKE AN OLD FOOL." This adage, WHICH MIGHT BE SEEN AS A somewhat offensive WAY OF stereotyping THE ELDERLY, appeared in John Heywood's 1546 COLLECTION OF proverbS. TRADITIONALLY, THE OLDER WE GET THE WISER WE'RE EXPECTED TO BECOME. WISDOM IS SIMPLY A COMBINATION OF SOUND JUDGEMENT, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE. WE DO NOT HAVE TO DEVELOP EXPERIENCES THEY COME AS A BY-PRODUCT OF EXISTENCE. HOWEVER, TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE IS AN INDIVIDUAL CHOICE WHETHER BY SCHOOLING, STUDY OR OBSERVATION. SOUND JUDGEMENT ALLOWS US TO APPLY BOTH EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE COLLECTIVELY IN WAYS THAT DELIVER THE BEST RESULTS AND PROMOTES UNDERSTANDING. THE BIBLE DECLARES IN PROVERBS 4:7 THAT "WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPLE THING; THEREFORE GET WISDOM: AND WITH ALL THY GETTING GET UNDERSTANDING." BY EXPANDING ON THIS THREAD, IT THEN STANDS TO REASON THAT WHETHER WE ARE APPLYING THIS TO PEOPLE, POLITICS OR POLICIES THE SAYING REMAINS TRUE. HAVE WE BECOME THE OLD FOOLS?
DID U NO, That: "The saying, Fool Me Once, Shame on You; Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me was first used in 1650 by politician Anthony Weldon. It's a witty way to say that you should learn from someone's tricks on you. If you don't, you're the only one to blame." One of the biggest tricks the devil uses is to trick us into representing him in art and literature completely opposite of how he really acts and operates. The devil is not a hideous figure or personality. He's like an angel of light, a crafty deal maker, enchanter, an enticer and a seducer. The devil is beautifully intelligent, cunning, wily and delightful but deceptive. No one would be comfortable speaking to or spending time with a spooky presence! DID U NO, That: "Leave well enough alone," is a disabling phrase? The idea behind this expression dates back to the ancient Greeks. It comes from one of Aesop's fables about a fox who refused a hedgehog's offer to take out its ticks. The fearful fox used defective logic and assumed that by removing full ticks, other hungry ones would come to replace them. The seemingly sly fox chose to suffer rather than being served. Had he observed the behaviors of other animals like monkeys and birds that removed one another's ticks, he would have known that his thinking was off. It was first recorded as "let well enough alone" in 1827. DID U NO, That: the saying "actions speak louder than words," is an idiom found in literature repeatedly and is hundreds of years old. This interesting and meaningful statement was first seen in "Gersham Bulkeley's" book Will and Doom, published in 1692: where he penned “actions are more significant than words.” The full quote by Mark Twain is: “Action speaks louder than words but not nearly as often.” This expression goes hand in hand with another saying we often hear. "Talk is cheap." The full quote popularized by P.T. Barnum is reported to have two variations. "Talk is cheap but whiskey COSTS money" and "talk is cheap until you hire a lawyer," deal with both bravado and the cost associated with keeping our word. Pledges, promises and resolutions are dangerous drains on the power of our words despite our intentions. Remember a lie becomes a lie by what we do or don't do! DID U NO, That: "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.." In 1888, Nietzsche wrote “Aus der Kriegsschule des Lebens.—Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich stärker,” which can be translated as “Out of life’s school of war—what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger.” It appears in his book of aphorisms, Twilight of the Idols, and no further explanation follows. We should NOT take this saying too far. Getting crippled in a car accident doesn't fit the bill. Perhaps he is suggesting that one should take suffering as an opportunity to build strength, and that those who are already strong are those who can do so. DID U NO, That: Age ain't "nothing" but a number is an exaggeration! The origins of this saying are attributed to Charles Eugster a 96 year-old retired dentist from the UK who holds multiple world records for his age group in a variety of sports. We believe that age is much more than just a number it's an honor! Getting old is not for the faint of heart. Joan Collins said, “Age is just a number. Adding "It's totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.” THE PROGENITORS/ORIGINATORS OF OUR CULTURE OR TRIBE WERE NOT PERFECT PEOPLE. WE HAVE INHEIRTED THEIR APPEARANCE (LOOKS) AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS (WAYS). OBVIOUSLY THEY HAD FLAWS AND SO DO WE. WHAT MAKES US THINK THAT WE ARE SO RIGHT? "Confirmation bias, a phrase coined by English psychologist Peter Wason, is the tendency of people to favor information that confirms or strengthens their beliefs or values and is difficult to dislodge once affirmed. Confirmation bias (or confirmatory bias) has also been termed myside bias." this means that we are all a product of our environment and what we learned or were taught within it. this also means that we are predisposed to believe and follow the same patterns or traditions OF our culture and parents. genetics also plays a role in how we inherently see things. PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORD BELIEVE, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT WE CAN FIND A LIE.DID U NO, That: Our current well-being both mentally and physically should more accurately be called SICK CARE rather then HEALTH CARE. The profit in the health care industry is generated more by remedial care than preventative measures. DID U NO, That: Being grateful and being thankful although synonymous are NOT the same. Gratitude is more of a lasting attitude and thankfulness is more of a momentary emotion. Let's go deeper. Being thankful encompasses being pleased and or relieved. The more thankful we are; the more perspective we gain in appreciating our past dilemmas, our present state and our future fortunes. Appreciation coupled with thankfulness perpetuates gratefulness! We should give thanks, show appreciation and be grateful! DID U NO, That: Life is constant change. In life as much as everything struggles to remain the same it still must change. Although homeostasis is consistent, atrophy is inevitable. All of life is either ripening or rotting. There is a thin fine line between our rise and demise. The gradual nature of changeless change obscures our senses from discerning the transition from one state to the other. Many times it can be detected by examining the vision, force and focus of the brain through the countenance of the eyes and face. The eyes are the light of the body. As our eyes grow dim many times our ambition and drive go with it. The energy in a persons body is often illuminated or exposed through their eyes. DID U NO, That: high blood pressure is more dangerous in younger people than it is in the older. DID U NO, That: The earliest traces of the great proverbs which say, “Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes,” comes from the Cherokee Indians. The native American Indians, whose land we’ve confiscated, culture almost obliterated, and symbols desecrated have cause to be vindictive. The stories of “Sand Creek” and “Wounded Knee” alone are enough to justify an onslaught of accusations that our conscious would find unbearable. Though not recorded in most of our history books, the facts are indisputable. Yet the posture of most Indians is peace. We can adopt an original African saying that states “if you think you are too small to make a difference, you haven’t spent a night with a mosquito.” Although captured, shipped, enslaved, experimented on, assaulted, raped, abused and declared by the original constitution to be less than human, the posture of the African American has been one of reconciliation and forgiveness. It took the thirteenth amendment to right that wrong. DID U NO, That: Interpretation is the cousin of translation. The collateral damage from the deception of denial reaches into every aspect of our existence. "Truthful hyperbole" is an oxymoron. The art of lying uses words that are deceptive but have some hint of truth. DID U NO, That: Overloaded, overpowered and overwhelmed is a common condition. We are approaching an "undefined" disturbance crisis. Along with sensory overload from screens and distractions of all kinds, the illusion of multitasking is changing the way our very adaptable minds operate. Neural plasticity allows our brains to adapt to multiple environments but it takes time. Are we advancing at a pace that the average person can keep up with? THIS MAY BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO "KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE!" ATHOUGH SUCH A FEAT IS "VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE" TO DO, SOMEHOW WE'VE ADOPTED THE FALSE IDEA THAT "MULTITASKING" IS POSSIBLE AND MORE EFFICIENT. MANY PEOPLE THINK THAT THEIR COMPUTERS GENUINELY MULTITASK. THIS MAY SEEM TO BE THE CASE BUT IT IS NOT REALLY TRUE. In many current systems, the CPU contains multiple cores, which means it can run several "processes" at the same time. In addition, each core is capable of “multitasking”, which means it can switch from one "PROCESS" to another quickly, creating the illusion that many "PROCESSES" are running at the same time. THIS DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE TECHNIQUE OF "MULTITHREADING" WHICH involves dividing a single "PROCESS" into multiple "threads" that can BE executeD concurrently. Computers can only do one task (or PROCESS) at a time. STILL a computer can change tasks very rapidly, and fool slow human beings into thinking it's doing several things at once. This is called "timesharing." One of the kernel's jobs is to manage "timesharing." ThE phrase "KILLING TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE dates back to the 1600s and references using a slingshot to bird hunt. Killing two birds with the same sHOT, IS AND was virtually impossible TO DO EVEN WITH A GUN. the phrase was commonly used as a criticism for taking on too MANY THINGS SIMULTANEOUSLY ("MULTITASKING") WHICH, greatly increasES the likelihood of UNDERPERFORMANCE AND failure.DID U NO, That: M.O.N.E.Y. = More Of Nothing Everyone Yearns for. What is money? Where did it come from? Why do we need it and Who invented it? (WHAT)For the love of money is the root of all evil. (WHERE) Banks create money by bonding (investing in) the collateral of a government or printing it to lend it out. (WHY) Money is a major player and the main force behind the manipulation of policies and economies around the world. Maybe this is why so many other people and institution want to manage our money for us. Are our banks still the safest place to keep our money? DID U NO, That: Charities represent the consciousness of society at work. However when our institutions and policies create the conditions that cause the formation of such charities it contributes to a more perverse system. Poverty is one example of that. Eradicating poverty, which we as a species have the ability to do right now would eliminate hunger and advance humanity. DID U NO, That: Waste is Pollution: we are producing and accumulating ten times more waste then we did 100 years ago. DID U NO, That: The realm of spirit can not be defined by the physical realm. "spirit of the fight" in a battle differs depending on whether in attack or retreat. There is a different energy from an aggressive fighter then a retreating one. Attacking a retreating enemy may be more advisable then attacking a surrounded dug in enemy. The "spirit of survival" motivates us differently when we're running then when we're trapped. DID U NO, That: RACISM knows no color. Xenophobia is a spirit (attitude-behavior-feeling) that has weak logic before it, but strong beliefs behind it. DID U NO, That: Racism is simply a manifestation and byproduct of genocide. Genocide is the technical definition for trying to eliminate a class of people. It is the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular ethnic, nation or religious group with the aim of destroying that nation or group. Even the corona virus (Covid-19) was manipulated for ethnic cleansing. DID U NO, That: Police officers practice profiling as a prerequisite of their profession. Observing things other than nationality, gender, ethnicity, color and attire are more important than personal biases. Watching the gait and posture of individuals is a far better way to form theories and make deductions as to whether they are armed or not. There are patterns to how we walk when we wear accessories. Swords, knives and guns suspended from or kept in our waistbands alter our posture and gait in minute ways. These micro-expressions can be detected with security camera algorithms. They can also be seen and sensed. There is a science to everything. This is one of the reasons it is difficult for police to determine if a suspect that wears sagging pants is armed or not! BIASES COUPLED WITH BELIEFS BOTH OPERATE AT THE CORE OF OUR FOUNDATION. OUR PERSPECTIVES ARE FORMULATED FROM EXPERIENCES AND THE WAY WE INTERPRET THEM. SEEING THINGS IN A WAY THAT IS COMFORTABLE TO OUR BELIEFS IS HOW DECEPTION WORKS. OTHER THAN SIMPLY DECEIVING OURSELVES WE ARE BEING DECIEVED BY A DECEIVER THAT IS FICTIONALIZED.
